Max Richter

Max Richter werd in 1966 in Duitsland geboren en groeide op in Engeland. Hij studeerde in Londen en in Florence bij Luciano Berio. Zijn stijl verbindt minimal music met elektronica en een romantische, melancholieke klank. Het album The Blue Notebooks (2004) maakte hem bekend, en het stuk 'On the Nature of Daylight' daaruit dook op in tal van films, zoals Arrival (2016). Voor de animatiedocumentaire Vals Im Bashir (2008) schreef hij trage, desolate muziek over oorlogsherinneringen. De HBO-serie The Leftovers (2014) kreeg strijkers en piano die rouw en verlies uitdrukken. Voor Ad Astra (2019) combineerde hij synthesizers en orkest. Lange, langzaam opbloeiende akkoorden zijn zijn handtekening.
