An Ordinary Day in an Unusual Place

An Ordinary Day in an Unusual Place · This third album by the jazz-rap group Us3 was released in 2001. Geoff Wilkinson recorded it in his own home studio. DJ First Rate, Michelob and Alison Crokett contributed. You Can't Hold Me Down was the first single. To promote the record, the group played at the 2001 London Jazz Festival.

The press was glowing. An Australian newspaper called it their most impressive work, in which a simple mix of hip hop, rap and jazz has grown into a funky form of its own. Another paper spoke of a classic blend of jazz and beats, distinctive yet accessible. One reviewer heard calm songs with jazzy beats, a jazzy bass and drums, rap vocals and occasionally instruments from other countries, such as the sitar.
