Guilty ’Til Proved Innocent!

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Guilty ’Til Proved Innocent! · Guilty 'til Proved Innocent! from 1998 is the first studio album of new songs by The Specials since 1984, written by both original and new members. Neville Staple, Roddy Byers, Lynval Golding and Horace Panter were joined by Mark Adams, Adam Birch and Jon Read. Drummer Charley Bembridge of The Selecter played on it, having performed live with the group since 1994. Stoker produced the record.

Inevitably the album was compared with the 1979 to 1981 line-up, but the reviews were much more favourable than for the covers album Today's Specials, and it was often called a return to form. It's You was the single for Modern Rock radio. Running Away is based on Monkey Man by Toots & the Maytals, which the band covered on the 1979 debut album.
