Today
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Today is the fourth album by the Dutch producer Tom Holkenborg, who works under the name Junkie XL. It was released in 2006. Nathan Mader sings on a number of tracks, and Holkenborg himself plays acoustic and electric guitar.
Honey is dedicated to the mother of his then fiancée and named after her. His ex-fiancée Carolyn sings on I've Got a Xerox to Copy. The title track Today got a second life in the computer games Burnout Legends and Burnout Revenge and, in 2008, in ESPN commercials for Major League Soccer. A snippet of the melody of Even In This Moment sounds the same when you play it backwards.
Listening
Listening tip. Listen to Today, the track that was heard in the Burnout games, and notice what the electric guitar adds to the electronic foundation.
