Instant Party!

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Instant Party! was released in 1962 and was recorded in Nashville between August and November 1961, shortly after Both Sides of an Evening. Like that predecessor, the album did not make the charts. The sleeve has an exclamation mark, the original label does not. Chet Atkins, Hank Garland and Floyd Cramer played on it.

The record consists mostly of older pop songs, such as Bye Bye Blackbird, True Love and Autumn Leaves. The brothers' usual rock 'n' roll sound is therefore almost entirely absent. AllMusic found the playing often impeccable, but incredibly boring on all but three songs, something the Everlys had never been before. The album was regarded as a low point in their artistic career.
