Tribute to the Martyrs
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Tribute to the Martyrs is the second studio album by the English reggae band Steel Pulse and was released in July 1979. It reached number 42 on the British album chart and number 36 in Sweden. Almost all the songs were written by singer David Hinds. Only Babylon Makes the Rules comes from keyboardist Selwyn Brown.
Two songs have a clear social theme. Biko's Kindred Lament is a tribute to Steve Biko, the South African anti-apartheid activist. Jah Pickney R.A.R. is about Rock Against Racism. Brass also plays on the album: a saxophone, a flugelhorn, a cornet and a trombone. The record contains eight songs, of which Blasphemy (Selah) at seven minutes is the longest, and the title song follows with almost seven.
