Let's Face the Music

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Let's Face the Music is Shirley Bassey's sixth studio album, from 1962, with arrangements by Nelson Riddle. The record came about during a tour that Riddle made with her. Her husband and manager Kenneth Hume wrote in the sleeve notes that they were great fans of Riddle and at first thought that a joint record was impossible, because he was under contract to Capitol. Producer Norman Newell arranged his participation. During the tour the singer, the arranger and the musical director Raymond Long discussed what form the album should take. The recording sessions began shortly afterwards.

In the United States the record was released with a slightly different track list as Shirley Bassey Sings The Hit Song From Oliver!. In Britain it entered the chart in December 1962 and reached number 12. In 1971 it was reissued as What Now My Love and then reached number 17.
