Never Mind the Bollocks Here’s the Sex Pistols

Never Mind the Bollocks Here’s the Sex Pistols · By the time this only studio album by the Sex Pistols came out, the band had already caused a great deal of uproar: swearing on live television, two record companies dropping them and performances banned in parts of Britain. During the recording sessions in 1977, bassist Glen Matlock left; he plays on only one track. Sid Vicious took his place, but guitarist Steve Jones played bass on most of the songs. The producers were Chris Thomas and Bill Price.

The record was released on 28 October 1977 on Virgin Records. Shops refused to sell it and some charts left the title blank, but the album went straight to number one in England. It is often named as the most influential punk record. The raw energy and the sneering, half-sung delivery of Johnny Rotten changed popular music.
