From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Happy Time is a 1975 studio album by the American jazz trumpeter Roy Eldridge. Norman Granz produced it, and it was released on Pablo Records. He plays trumpet and sings, accompanied by pianist Oscar Peterson, guitarist Joe Pass, bassist Ray Brown and drummer Eddie Locke.
The repertoire consists of ten well-known standards, including Willow Weep for Me, Makin' Whoopee, All of Me, On the Sunny Side of the Street and I Can't Get Started. There is also a blues number by T-Bone Walker, Stormy Monday. The album closes with Let Me Off Uptown, the shortest track on the record. Benny Green wrote the sleeve notes.
Listening
Listening tip. Listen to Willow Weep For Me and notice how the trumpet lays down the melody calmly, while piano, guitar and bass keep playing softly beneath it.
