Sheer Heart Attack
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Sheer Heart Attack was released on 8 November 1974 and was Queen's third album. After two albums with progressive themes, the band now chose more pop-oriented songs and more conventional rock. Roy Thomas Baker produced it together with the group. The recording in the summer of 1974 went with difficulty, because Brian May contracted hepatitis after a tour and later developed a duodenal ulcer, after which he ended up in hospital during the sessions. Afterwards he recorded Dear Friends, among other things.
Killer Queen became the first single, reached number 2 in Great Britain and was the band's first American top twenty hit. The album took Queen to the peak of popularity in the United Kingdom and beyond. It was later named by magazines as one of the group's best records.
