Head Carrier
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Head Carrier was released on 30 September 2016 and is the sixth album by the Pixies. It was recorded at RAK Studios in London under producer Tom Dalgety, who replaced Gil Norton, the man behind the previous four albums. Bassist Paz Lenchantin had joined in 2014 for the tour around Indie Cindy and plays here for the first time as a full member. She succeeded Kim Deal, who had left in 2013. The title refers to a cephalophore, a saint who carries his own head, in this case Saint Denis of Paris.
Production began in late 2015. Um Chagga Lagga was the first single, Talent the second. Lenchantin co-wrote All I Think About Now and sings it herself. The song is about Kim Deal and takes the form of a thank-you letter. NPR streamed the whole album online from 22 September.
