Mazarin

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Mazarin came out on 16 June 2003 and is the fourth studio album by the Swedish pop musician Per Gessle. He himself saw the record as a small side project alongside Roxette. It was a great success: in Sweden it went five times platinum. Unlike his previous record, the language here is Swedish again.

The music consists of short pop songs of a little over two to a little over four minutes, with titles such as Vilket håll du än går, Smakar på ett regn and Varmt igen. The last track, Mazarin, is an instrumental piece. In 2004 Gessle also played some of the songs on the tour of Gyllene Tider, although they were not by that group. The Swedish newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen were highly enthusiastic about it in their reviews.

Listening

Listening tip. Listen to Mazarin, the instrumental closing track, and notice how, without vocals, it presents a melody that fits the songs.
