Unforgettable
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Unforgettable · This album is a collection of recordings that Nat King Cole made for Capitol in the early 1950s. It was released in 1952 as a 10-inch LP and reissued in 1954 as a 12-inch LP, with four extra tracks. The producer was Lee Gillette.
The record shows Cole's singing in varying settings. On Unforgettable, Pretend, Answer Me, My Love and Make Her Mine the orchestra of Nelson Riddle plays, on Mona Lisa and Too Young that of Les Baxter. A few songs were recorded with the Nat King Cole Trio, such as What'll I Do? and Lost April, and on Lost April and A Portrait of Jennie the Carlyle Hall Strings play. Trio, strings and big orchestra thus stand side by side on one and the same record. The opening track gave the collection its title.
