Opus de Jazz
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Opus de Jazz is an album by vibraphonist Milt Jackson, recorded in New York on 28 October 1955 and released on Savoy. The subtitle names the instrumentation: flute, vibraphone, piano, bass and drums. Frank Wess plays flute and, on one track, tenor saxophone, Hank Jones piano, Eddie Jones bass and Kenny Clarke drums.
The album contains four long tracks. Opus de Funk by Horace Silver is the longest at just over thirteen minutes. Ozzie Cadena wrote Opus Pocus and Opus and Interlude, and You Leave Me Breathless is by Ralph Freed and Frederick Hollander. Scott Yanow of Allmusic found it not essential, but pleasant music.
