No Lookin’ Back

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

No Lookin’ Back · No Lookin' Back is Michael McDonald's second solo studio album, released on 12 August 1985 by Warner Bros. Records, three years after If That's What It Takes. It was his last album with that company. For the first time he co-produced himself, together with Ted Templeman, and wrote or co-wrote all the songs. The guitarists Joe Walsh, Robben Ford and David Pack played on it, Jeff Porcaro sat behind the drums, Willie Weeks played bass and Cornelius Bumpus blew the horns. The title single, co-written by Kenny Loggins, reached number 34 on the Hot 100.

The reviews were mostly favourable, although Rolling Stone wrote scathingly about the singer's limited voice. Music Week, by contrast, heard impressive soul singing, close to Hall & Oates. The album reached number 45 on the Billboard 200.
