Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo is the debut album by the French rapper MC Solaar, released in 1991. The title is a pun on the French proverb Qui sème le vent récolte la tempête, which goes back to the Book of Hosea in the Bible. The album was very successful.

Bouge de là was the first single and grew into a big hit in France, launching his career. The track is built on a sample of The Message by the English band Cymande. The title track uses a sample of One Cylinder by Lou Donaldson. Caroline and Victime de la mode also became popular singles. The album also contains two instrumental pieces, Intro and Funky Dreamer, and a few improvised tracks.

Listening

Listening tip. In Bouge de là, Pt. 1, listen to the sample of The Message by Cymande and notice how the rap sits on top of it.
