Memoryhouse
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Memoryhouse, from 2002, is the debut album by the neoclassical composer Max Richter. It was first released on the label Late Junction and reissued in 2009 and 2014 on FatCat Records, with different sleeve designs. Richter recorded it with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Rumon Gamba. There are solo parts for violin, cello and soprano, and the music is supplemented by spoken texts by John Cage and Marina Tsvetaeva. Richter wrote the music, produced the record and mixed it himself.
The record received mostly positive reviews. For the 2014 reissue, Pitchfork again wrote a very positive assessment.
