The Light of the Spirit
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
The Light of the Spirit was released in 1987 and is a studio album by Kitaro. He produced it together with Mickey Hart, the drummer of the Grateful Dead. Many guests play on it, including Zakir Hussain on percussion, David Grisman on mandolin and Bobby Black on pedal steel guitar.
The album combines synthesizers with acoustic instruments. The magazine CD Review called it a lush wave of synthesizer orchestrations with acoustic colours. The track The Field earned a Grammy nomination. The record consists of eight tracks, with Sundance, Moondance and Howling Thunder alongside the title track.
