Duotones
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Duotones was released on 29 September 1986 by Arista Records. It is the fourth studio album by the saxophonist Kenny G. He plays all the saxophones as well as keyboards, synthesizer bass, drum machine and backing vocals. On one track he plays all the instruments himself, and he also plays an EWI, an electronic wind controller that can produce violin and horn sounds. Narada Michael Walden is the executive producer, Preston Glass is the producer, and Kenny G co-produced several tracks.
The best-known track is Songbird, which reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100. The album reached number one on the Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and number six on the Billboard 200. A second version also exists, with a slightly different running order. On it, Don't Make Me Wait for Love and What Does It Take (To Win Your Love) are longer, and there is an additional track.
