Lionheart
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Lionheart · Nine months after her successful debut, the record company EMI wanted a second album quickly. She was only nineteen and had already written many songs as a teenager. Of the ten tracks, only three were new: Symphony in Blue, Fullhouse and Coffee Homeground. The rest dated from before her debut and were reworked. The album was recorded at Super Bear Studios on the French Riviera, the only time she recorded outside England. Andrew Powell was producer again, because she still felt too inexperienced to do it herself. Del Palmer played on it for the first time.
The lyrics refer to Peter Pan, Hammer films and police series. Hammer Horror did not make the top 40, while Wow reached number 14. The press was lukewarm and she found the album too rushed, although she was pleased with Wow. The album stayed 36 weeks in the British charts and went platinum.
