Take Me to Tomorrow
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Take Me to Tomorrow is John Denver's second studio album and was released in May 1970. The magazine Record World predicted that the single Follow Me would make him a hitmaker, and Cash Box called it a fine ballad. The album spent two weeks on the Billboard Top LP's and got no higher than number 197.
Anyone expecting the sweet folk music and the wise children's lyrics of later years will be disappointed. According to Allmusic, the album sounds firmly like folk rock, with lyrics that even include burping and latrines. There are two songs by Tom Paxton, including Forest Lawn, a dry jab at the funeral industry. Aspenglow is the song that often appears on compilations. According to the liner notes, the record together with Rhymes & Reasons forms a concert from 1969, of which this is the spicier second half.
