Any Day Now
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
In September 1968 Joan Baez went to Nashville for a marathon session. Two albums came out of it: Any Day Now and, a year later, David's Album. The ninth studio album is a double LP with only songs by Bob Dylan. Baez laid Dylan's sheet music out on the floor, closed her eyes and chose blind; that is how the track list came about. Six songs were at that time not yet on an official Dylan album. Love Is Just a Four-Letter Word he apparently never recorded himself. Baez also drew illustrations for each track, which are printed in the sleeve.
The album reached number 30 on the Billboard chart and was certified gold in 1969. Thom Jurek of AllMusic called her the best interpreter of Dylan and wrote that her voice extends the meaning of the songs.
