Worth Waiting For
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Worth Waiting For is the tenth studio album by the keyboard player Jeff Lorber. It was released in January 1993 on Verve Forecast and marked his return to his own work after eight years spent making music for others. In that time he produced dance remixes and albums by the saxophonists Dave Koz and Eric Marienthal. He had grown tired of compromise with other artists and wanted to have creative control again himself.
The album continues the line of his 1980s work: smooth jazz and fusion with plenty of synthesizers, blended with R&B, funk and pop. It spent thirty weeks on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz chart, reached number one at the end of July 1993 and sold more than a hundred thousand copies. It is the only album of his to reach number 1 there.
