Eli

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Eli is a collaborative album by the Dutch guitarist Jan Akkerman and the vocalist Kaz Lux. It is a concept album with jazz, pop and funk, and thus a departure from the progressive rock of Focus, Akkerman's previous band. Besides them, Jasper van 't Hof and Rick van der Linden play keyboards, Warwick Reading bass and Pierre van der Linden drums. Akkerman also plays bass himself.

In 1976 the record won the Dutch Edison for best album. Strindberg was written as a tribute to the work of August Strindberg. The album has nine tracks, ranging from three to almost six minutes.

Listening

Listening tip. Listen to Strindberg, the shortest track on the album, and notice how the guitar relates to the keyboards.
