Out of the Storm

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Out of the Storm is Jack Bruce's fourth studio album, released in 1974, after the end of Cream and of West, Bruce and Laing. On the advice of the engineer Andy Johns it was recorded largely in Los Angeles and San Francisco, with American session musicians such as Steve Hunter on guitar and Jim Keltner and Jim Gordon on drums. He wrote the music himself, the lyrics were by Pete Brown.

The original plan was to call it Into the Storm, but when taking photographs in Scotland he found no stormy weather. The cover therefore shows him in a small wood. The album was well received, by Allan Jones of Melody Maker among others, but sold poorly. On the Billboard chart it reached number 160.
