Moontan
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Moontan is the ninth studio album by the Dutch rock band Golden Earring and came out in August 1973 on Polydor, in England on Track Records and in the United States on MCA. The band produced it themselves, with Fred Haayen as executive producer. The album was mixed at IBC Studios in London. On Radar Love, the radio hit of the album, Eelco Gelling plays slide guitar. In Vanilla Queen, two lines by Marilyn Monroe from the film There's No Business Like Show Business are sampled.
In the United States Moontan became the group's most successful album. It is the only Golden Earring album to go gold there, certified by the RIAA. The American edition first appeared with the English sleeve of an exotic dancer, but that was soon replaced by the sleeve with the earring.
