Songs for Young Lovers
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Songs for Young Lovers was Frank Sinatra's first album for Capitol Records, released in January 1954. It is his seventh studio album. In the nightclubs of Las Vegas he had developed a more mature, jazzier sound, and with producer Voyle Gilmore he recorded the arrangements he had sung at the Riviera and the Sands. Nelson Riddle conducted the sessions, the beginning of a twenty-year collaboration. Almost all of the arrangements were by George Siravo.
The album consists of eight standards built around a single theme, including My Funny Valentine, A Foggy Day and I Get a Kick Out of You. It was also the singer's first album not to be issued as a 78 rpm album set. In 2002 it was added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry.
