Design Your Universe
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Design Your Universe is Epica's fourth studio album, released on 16 October 2009. It was the first record with guitarist Isaac Delahaye and drummer Ariën van Weesenbeek as official members. Recording began on 2 March 2009 at Gate Studio in Wolfsburg, with the familiar collaborators Sascha Paeth, Amanda Somerville and Miro Rodenberg. Where its predecessor was about religions, this record revolves around the power of thought and imagination, inspired by new insights from quantum physics, said Mark Jansen.
Three tracks continue the series A New Age Dawns. On White Waters, Tony Kakko of Sonata Arctica sings a duet with Simone Simons; his part was recorded in Finland. Incentive is one of the few tracks without Simons. The reception was positive, and the record reached number eight on the Dutch chart, the highest for the band up to then.
