Scorpion

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Scorpion is Drake's fifth studio album and his first double album, released on 29 June 2018. The first disc is mainly hip hop, the second R&B and pop. He made it with 40 and his manager Oliver El-Khatib. Just before, he had been in conflict with Pusha T, whose diss track claimed he had a secret child. This is addressed on Scorpion, and later he acknowledged having a son. According to critics, the title was an answer to his opponents.

The lyrics deal with fear, relationships and his path from underdog to top artist. The production draws on soul, ambient, quiet storm, R&B, pop, electronica and trap. Seven singles were released, of which God's Plan, Nice for What and In My Feelings reached number 1. Critics appreciated the songs, but found the whole too long.
