Fairytale
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Fairytale is the second album by the Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan. Pye released it on 22 October 1965 in the United Kingdom; in the United States a slightly different version appeared in November on Hickory, with Universal Soldier added and Oh Deed I Do removed. Peter Eden, Geoff Stephens and Terry Kennedy produced. As on his debut, Donovan plays harmonica and acoustic guitar; Shawn Phillips plays extra twelve-string guitar.
The music moves further towards British folk, especially in Summer Day Reflection Song and Jersey Thursday. Sunny Goodge Street points ahead to the jazzy atmosphere and the descriptions of London city life that Donovan would continue to explore over the next two years. Record World called that song one of rare beauty.
