From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump · On 8 August 2000 De La Soul's fifth studio album was released. It was the first part of a planned series of three discs. Many guests take part: Redman, Tash and J-Ro of Tha Liks, Xzibit, Busta Rhymes, Mike D and Ad Rock of the Beastie Boys, Busy Bee, Freddie Foxxx and Chaka Khan. More than half of the album features a guest. Unlike its predecessor Stakes Is High, it brought the group back into the charts, thanks to the singles Oooh. and All Good?. The album was nominated for a Grammy.

Oooh. uses replayed elements from Enter the Dragon by Lalo Schifrin, and U Can Do (Life) contains a sample of Le Freak by Chic. The reviews were positive. Robert Christgau wrote that the old jokers had grown into the purest musicians in hip hop, with art in beats, flow and melodies. In the United States the album entered at number 9.
