In 1987 Mag het licht uit by De Dijk from Amsterdam was released. The band chose American soul and rhythm and blues as its source, with horns and a tight rhythm section. The singer Huub van der Lubbe wrote lyrics about Amsterdam and the people who live there. De Dijk became one of the most popular live acts in the country. In 2010 the band even recorded an album with the American soul singer Solomon Burke.
