Dreams Are Nuthin’ More Than Wishes

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Dreams Are Nuthin’ More Than Wishes · Dreams Are Nuthin' More Than Wishes is David Cassidy's third solo album, released in 1973 by Bell Records and produced by Rick Jarrard. It consists mostly of covers, including Daydream by John Sebastian, Fever by Peggy Lee and The Puppy Song by Nilsson. The album title comes from that last one. He also sang his own version of Summer Days, a song by The Partridge Family.

The gatefold sleeve and the handwritten notes, in which he explains why he chose each song, are distinctive. The album reached number one on the British albums chart in 1973 and made the Australian top twenty in 1974, during his tour there. A reviewer called the record an album to melt the icicles from the heart of every little girl, and praised the sequencing, in which his charm came across well.
