Gettin' It in The Street

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Gettin' It in The Street · Gettin' It in the Street is David Cassidy's sixth studio album and his third and last for RCA. Gerry Beckley of America co-produced and co-wrote several of the songs. In November 1976 the record was released in Germany and Japan, but it did not make the album charts. RCA had also pressed copies for the American market, but did not release them officially. Only in 1979 did they turn up in the bargain bins.

Mick Ronson played lead guitar on the title song, which as a single reached number seven in the readers' chart of the German teen magazine Bravo. Cruise to Harlem was co-written by Brian Wilson, founder of the Beach Boys. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic called the record, despite its lack of success, one of the singer's best: pleasant, breezy mainstream pop from the mid-1970s.
