One Day It’ll All Make Sense
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
One Day It’ll All Make Sense · Common released One Day It'll All Make Sense on 30 September 1997 on Relativity Records. It was his third studio album, the successor to the highly acclaimed Resurrection. It was the first record on which the Chicago rapper officially dropped the word Sense from his name. It was also the last album with producer No I.D. until The Dreamer/The Believer in 2011.
Robert Christgau wrote in The Village Voice in January 1998 that this rapper has no aptitude for smooth earworms or broad appeal. According to Christgau he raps about black life and black manhood as most black people and young men really know them. His flow is not made for the dance floor, but it is complex and full. The track list features guests such as De La Soul, Cee-Lo, Erykah Badu, Black Thought, Q-Tip and Canibus.
