Vintage
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Vintage is the sixth album by the American blues rock group Canned Heat and was released in 1970. Johnny Otis produced it. The recordings date from 1966, when the group was still called Canned Heat Blues Band. They were demos and also the first time the group played in a studio. They stayed on the shelf for four years.
The repertoire consists mainly of blues classics by Willie Dixon, Tommy Johnson, John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters, among others. Rollin' and Tumblin' is on it twice, once without and once with Alan Wilson's harmonica. The album entered the Billboard chart on 17 January 1970 and stayed for five weeks, with number 173 as its highest position. The same sessions have since reappeared on many reissues.
