Dial ‘M’ for Monkey

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Dial ‘M’ for Monkey · Dial 'M' for Monkey is the second studio album by the British electronic artist Bonobo. It was released on 17 June 2003 on the label Ninja Tune. He wrote and played all the tracks himself. The album contains nine pieces, from Noctuary to Light Pattern.

Flutter was the only single from the record, with a Four Tet Mix of Pick Up and Something (Longer) as B-sides. The CD came with a short animated film by Conkerco, which goes with one of the tracks. The album became known through the use of its music elsewhere. Flutter and Pick Up were heard in the snowboarding game SSX on Tour. Flutter was later heard in TV series and in adverts on Film4, and Wayward Bob was in the film Gumball 3000: The Movie. In 2012 the record received a double silver certification from the Independent Music Companies Association for at least 40,000 copies sold in Europe.
