Ass
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Ass was Badfinger's fifth album and their last on Apple Records. Recording began in January 1972, but the album was not released until 26 November 1973 in the United States and 8 March 1974 in England. Todd Rundgren left the project after two recorded tracks, after which the band tried it themselves. A first version was rejected, and Chris Thomas was given the task, as producer, of improving the recordings.
A dispute over copyright then followed as well, as a result of which Apple credited all the songs to the band. The sleeve, with a donkey behind a carrot, painted by Peter Corriston, refers to the feeling of having been misled by Apple. The album reached number 122 on the Billboard 200.
