Talkie Walkie
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Talkie Walkie, Air's third album, was released on 26 January 2004 on Virgin Records. According to an NME reviewer, the two Frenchmen played and programmed all the instruments themselves in Paris and sang all the vocals themselves too. Producer Nigel Godrich and arranger Michel Colombier gave the record a subtle touch in the final stage. Alpha Beta Gaga was originally recorded for Madonna's American Life.
The reactions were largely positive. Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone called the album excellent and spoke of elegant, melancholic soundtrack music for imaginary films. Alone in Kyoto was on the soundtrack of the 2003 film Lost in Translation, and Run and Surfing on a Rocket were used in television, film and a computer game. Pitchfork placed the record twentieth among the best albums of 2004.
