Waterloo
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Song
On 6 April 1974, ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton with Waterloo. The writers were Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, together with their manager Stig Anderson. They had listened closely to Phil Spector and British glam rock. In the years that followed they made hit after hit in Stockholm, with a sound that worked in any language, sung by Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. Sweden became a hit-making nation.
Listening
Listening tip. Hear the piano, the saxophone and the chorus that sticks in your head at once: a battle as a love story.
