Levenslied and smartlap
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Levenslied and smartlap · The levenslied is the Dutch-language song about love, sorrow, mothers and the city, with a simple melody that everyone can sing along to. Its roots lie with the street singers and the smartlappen, songs full of drama. In the 1950s the Amsterdam Jordaan became the centre, with Johnny Jordaan and Tante Leen, and in the 1980s André Hazes made the levenslied big.
