Stochelo Rosenberg

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist

Stochelo Rosenberg was born in Helmond into a Sinti family and learned to play guitar by copying records by Django Reinhardt. With his cousins Nous'che and Nonnie Rosenberg he formed the Rosenberg Trio, which made its debut in 1989 with Seresta. He plays fast and melodically, with the typical technique of gypsy jazz. The trio performed in the Netherlands and abroad, including at the North Sea Jazz Festival. In 2017 he played the guitar parts for the French film Django, about Reinhardt. Rosenberg is regarded as one of the best guitarists in his tradition.
