Nobuo Uematsu

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist

Nobuo Uematsu (born 1959) taught himself to play the piano and to compose. He joined Square in 1986 and wrote the music for Final Fantasy (1987) and for almost all instalments up to and including Final Fantasy X (2001). The opening piece Prelude is a simple series of broken chords that returns in every instalment. Uematsu mixed orchestral music, rock and folk music. Final Fantasy VI (1994) contains a short opera, made with the limited sound chip of the Super Nintendo. For Final Fantasy VII (1997) he wrote One-Winged Angel, with a choir singing Latin texts. His melodies are performed by orchestras all over the world.

Listening
