Celebrate the Bullet · Het debuut Too Much Pressure was een succes geweest, maar daarna liep het mis. De band raakte in conflict met 2 Tone Records en ruziede over de richting. De meesten wilden new wave in het geluid, anderen niet. In augustus 1980 begonnen de opnames in Horizon Studios in Coventry. Bassist Charley Anderson en toetsenist Desmond Brown verlieten de groep, en Norman Watt-Roy van Ian Dury and the Blockheads sprong in op bas. Producer was weer Roger Lomas.

Celebrate the Bullet is somber en gespannen, met politieke teksten over sociale en raciale verhoudingen en angst voor de koude oorlog. Bristol and Miami gaat over de rellen in 1980 in die twee steden. De titelsingle werd door BBC Radio 1 geweigerd, omdat een dj dacht dat het over de moord op John Lennon ging. Het album haalde slechts nummer 41 in de Britse lijst.
