Sophisticated Boom Boom is het debuutalbum van de Engelse groep Dead or Alive, op 20 april 1984 uitgebracht door Epic Records. Zeus B. Held produceerde het, en Pete Burns zong. De titel komt van een nummer van de Shangri-Las, en de hoes, gefotografeerd door Peter Ashworth, werd geïnspireerd door Lionheart van Kate Bush. De werktitel Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know werd door het label afgewezen.

De muziek is vooral synthpop met dansbare elementen. Het album bevat de eerste Britse top veertig single van de band, een cover van That's the Way (I Like It) van KC and the Sunshine Band. Dat nummer en Misty Circles deden het goed in de Amerikaanse danslijst. In het Verenigd Koninkrijk bereikte het album nummer 29. De cassetteversie had drie extra nummers.
