Harold Faltermeyer

Harold Faltermeyer uit München studeerde aan de muziekhogeschool daar en werkte als toetsenist en arrangeur voor Giorgio Moroder, onder meer bij Midnight Express en American Gigolo. Zijn eigen doorbraak was Beverly Hills Cop (1984). Het instrumentale thema Axel F, met een springerige synthesizermelodie en een strak drumcomputerritme, werd wereldwijd een hit. Het album won een Grammy. Daarna schreef hij de muziek voor de komedie Fletch (1985) en voor Top Gun (1986). De Top Gun Anthem, met gitarist Steve Stevens, won in 1987 een Grammy. Faltermeyer maakte de synthesizerpop tot het gewone geluid van de Hollywood-actiefilm.
