The Heart of Everything
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
The Heart of Everything is the fourth album by the Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation. Composing began at the end of 2005 and the recording took half a year in 2006. The album was released on 12 March 2007 in Europe on GUN Records and later that year in North America on Roadrunner Records. The band drew inspiration from books and from personal moments, above all the making of choices. That is why Lady Justice appears on the cover, a design by the Dutch artist Erwin Olaf.
Singer Sharon den Adel sees it as the record on which the band finally achieved the symphonic sound. Our Solemn Hour is about people being sacrificed in wars while we learn nothing from them. Frozen is about child abuse, and the proceeds from that single went to Child Helpline International. What Have You Done was the first and most successful single. The album reached number one in the Netherlands and received positive reviews.
