My Love Is Your Love

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

My Love Is Your Love is Whitney Houston's fourth studio album, released on 17 November 1998 by Arista Records. It was her first studio record in eight years. Label boss Clive Davis felt she had been away so long that he wrote her a letter in 1997. At first, material was still being sought for a compilation album, but after It's Not Right but It's Okay by Rodney Jerkins, the project grew into a new studio record. Missy Elliott, Wyclef Jean and Babyface also worked on it.

The album opts for contemporary R&B and hip hop, with funk, reggae and soul as well. The recording took six to seven weeks, the fastest of her career. The duet When You Believe with Mariah Carey won an Oscar, and It's Not Right but It's Okay a Grammy. Critics gave the record some of the best reviews of her career.
