Come an’ Get It
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Come an’ Get It · Whitesnake's fourth album was released in 1981 and reached number 2 in Great Britain. Only Kings of the Wild Frontier by Adam and the Ants kept it from the top. The album stayed on the chart for 23 weeks. Don't Break My Heart Again and Would I Lie to You were released as singles, the first reaching the British top 20.
The sleeve is by the British artist Malcolm Horton, after the band had rejected the ideas of the record company EMI. On the front a white snake is trapped in a glass apple; on the back the apple is broken and the snake has escaped: temptation becoming too strong. The snake's tongue caused a stir and was reportedly retouched away in America. The band then toured for five months, including with Judas Priest, and for the first time played Monsters of Rock at Castle Donington.
