Dance Mania

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Dance Mania is a 1958 studio album by the American musician Tito Puente. He leads the orchestra, writes the arrangements and plays timbales, vibraphone and marimba. The ensemble includes seven trumpeters and four saxophonists, with Raymond Concepción on piano and Bobby Rodríguez on bass. The percussion is in the hands of Ray Barretto on congas and Ray Rodríguez on bongos. Julito Collazo plays congas on two tracks. Santitos Colón sings the lead vocals and leads the chorus.

The titles show which dance styles are featured: son montuno, mambo, bolero and guaracha. In 2002 the record was added to the National Recording Registry, and it appears on the list of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Listening
